The horseshoe is one of the most famous amulets in folk belief. It is considered a symbol of happiness and good luck. A horseshoe is known for its shape, which resembles a curved loop with split ends. Horseshoes are usually made of metal such as iron or copper.
A horseshoe is capable of keeping and attracting good luck. In particular, folk belief says that a horseshoe should hang upside down with its horns down so that good luck "doesn't fall out". Therefore, a horseshoe may often be placed over the front door or worn as a piece of jewellery.
There is also an assumption that the metal from which the horseshoe is made (mostly iron) has a protective effect against evil forces and energies.
